If we look closely at our lives we can see that the most important moments happened within seconds or minutes.  Time is an illusion, stop racing a game that can never be won.  When we learn to embrace the now we accomplish much more than the mind can conceive or achieve.

I have a very close friend for many years, who has had a problem with drug addiction. We reconnected and she has embraced a path of spirituality that has helped her overcome this addiction.  We both decided we wanted to learn to play the Guitar. She had a 6 month drug free celebration, and also her joy to have found a spiritual path.  I chose to buy her a guitar and put off buying myself one.  I was and am so proud of her success.  The joy it brought her to receive this gift was far greater than the joy I would have gotten from purchasing myself one.  I gave truly from the pureness of giving and in that I received so much fulfillment.  

The interesting thing is I kept saying to myself after I do this or pay off that I will buy myself one.  Well I have a very dear friend whom plays and knew of my desire to learn.  To my surprise my friend has decided to buy me one!!!  I’m always amazed at what the universe has up her sleeve.  I had already received all I could have ever wanted in my own giving and my heart just filled with so much more gratitude.  

Give for the simple sake of giving.  Give only from a place of love and joy.  

That’s God’s Way!!

]]> http://spiritualityintheraw.com/giving-for-the-joy-of-it/feed/ 0 Finding Gratitude http://spiritualityintheraw.com/finding-gratitude/ http://spiritualityintheraw.com/finding-gratitude/#comments Sun, 17 May 2009 23:03:43 +0000 Michelle http://spiritualityintheraw.com/?p=363 Gratitude Counts, And It Feels Really Good Too! :)  Slow down and find those little moments in your day too appreciate life!!  In our society we spend most of our time rushing from one thing to the next.  Trying to get it all done, get through something, or believing when we have…. then we can relax or enjoy whatever we think it is we want or need.  Don’t believe your busy minds illusion!  Think how many times you believed it and yet “It”  hasn’t arrived.  Doesn’t it seem like you have done that for a life time already?  Has anything changed?  Your age maybe!!  Then you feel stresses about more time and wasted time and more not enough time.  Sounds a lot like a crazy hamster wheel going round and round.  Need some meds now to combat that anxiety?  

Wake up!!  The “Time” is now!  The place is right here!  It starts with the simple gratefulness of breath, of nature, of loved ones.  Remember when people would say a pray of gratitude before a meal?  There is much power in that 1 minute task.  It creates more abundance and  love, which radiates into your life.  The more love and gratitude you bring will only grow and increase more of the same in your life and those around you.  

Pick one small thing in your life, a person, a job, money etc and everyday stop for one minute when it comes to your sight or mind and cultivate a feeling of love and gratitude.  Do this for one month or even two weeks and watch the amazing happenings that will arise around and within you.  NOW IS THE TIME :)

Use products that are environmentally sound. Allow your choices to come from love and not from a place of fighting what you think has been done wrong to the planet. Let’s let our outside world be a cultivation of our inner spiritual growth.  Care for your environment as you would a precious child.  You wouldn’t give your child a toxic toy, would you?  

When you do, and give, and live with love and respect for your environment it spreads more than your mind can conceive.  You will feel it on a personal level and it will spread on a global plane.

It may be hard to tell if you stay home and watch the news. But, everywhere, and I mean everywhere I go, I find wonderful people quietly doing good things, helping others and working on themselves. In all these people, hope is not an intellectual topic, it’s a way of life. They do more than think hope. They help people nurture hope and then teach them how to spread it around.

The world is not falling apart. We live in extraordinary times. Many things are changing for the better. It might be hard to see because the it’s more like a grassroots movement right now. But, you don’t have to look far to see it, unless you of course you don’t believe there is good bubbling up in the world. As I’ve recently mentioned on this blog, we find what we are looking for. We see what we want to see. Look for negativity and you’ll find negativity. Look for positive things and you’ll find positive things. It comes down to choice.

You can be a part of this movement by doing a little bit of anonymous good here and there. It won’t take much effort but the benefits to future generations could be enormous.
